Bhramari, Bumble Bee Breath, creates a bee-like sound. The breath traditionally makes a buzzing sound on the inhale and exhale, but as the inhale can be quite challenging, many just create the sound on the exhale. This breath releases tension, helps reduce insomnia, and can strengthen the voice and throat. It can be quite a fun and playful breath for the children to practice and is of great benefit due to all it’s healing properties.
Instructions
Sitting comfortably, inhale slowly, pause and then as you exhale create an “eeeeeee” sound.
Try to keep the sound steady as you exhale.
Here are some activities you can try while practicing your Bhramari Breath:
- Buzzing Bees Around the Room
- Bee Resting on a Flower – flying around room and when music stops they rest on top of their flower and “buzz”
- Singing Bees – create a round. Have the room starts their bee breath and when they are half down the other half starts
This breath is so fun to teach to children of all ages! It is a great tool for older children to have in their “toolbox” as they learn how to withdraw outside senses and stresses and bring their awareness and energy within their body.
